Dr. Kim H. Tatsumi was born and raised in Sheldon, Iowa. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, and graduated with highest honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Biology. Due to the sudden death of his father, he put his medical training on hold for three years to run the family business.; During this time he traveled extensively throughout the United States, Taiwan, India, Hong Kong, Japan, and China.
After the family business stabilized, he resumed his medical training. Dr. Tatsumi received his medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed his internship and residency at Mercy and St. Luke's Family Practice Residency Program in Davenport, Iowa. In July of 1989, he joined the staff of Stevens Community Medical Center, following his desire to return to a rural lifestyle. Dr. Tatsumi enjoys the wide range of care that family practice provides. He is a member of the American Board of Family Practice.
Dr. Tatsumi is an avid sportsman. In his spare time, he enjoys walleye fishing with his son, Christopher, as well as hunting, horseback riding, and running. He runs 25 to 30 miles a week and has participated in numerous 10K runs in the area.
