Heart Healthy Tip #2: Get Out & Get Active

February is American Heart Health Month. At Stevens Community Medical Center, we want you and your heart healthy!

Heart Healthy Tip #2:
Get Out & Get Active.
Boost your heart rate with physical activity. It can improve cardiovascular disease and overall mental and physical health. When you engage in cardio, you move quickly enough to raise your heart rate and breathe harder, but you shouldn’t go overboard. Just 30 minutes 5 times a week!
Ways to Get Out & Get Active:
  • Walking, Hiking, Running
  • Biking or indoor Cycling
  • Swimming
  • Strength training
  • Raking or shoveling snow!
  • Stair Climbing
  • Try a class at the gym
  • Housework counts too
  • & even opting to take stairs or park farther back in the parking lot are some examples to keep moving on those busy days.
